Project « Sustainability of the collections in the face of changes in the museum sector »

Sustainable development is one of the major preoccupations of today’s museum sector. It involves managing the collections in an ethical and professional manner so they can be passed on to future generations.

How do the professionals tackle this traditional museum task today? What best practices do they adopt? What equipment do they use? How do they reconcile the sustainability of the collections on display to the different audiences with the cultural, social, ecological and economic issues the museum environment now faces?

The Royal Museum of Mariemont positions itself as a space for debate and exchange that examines professional practices in the light of current changes in the museum institution.
