Guided tours and specialized workshops are offered to preschools, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and special education schools.

This year’s theme: “Mariemont and Porcelain,” as part of the exhibition Le Magasin de Porcelaine.

School audiences
Preschool
The learning spaces and educational tools are specifically designed to accommodate young children’s learning pace and to spark their interest in aesthetics and creativity.
Elementary School
For your elementary school students, the visit focuses on observation and self-expression. The exploration of the exhibition can begin with an audiovisual presentation, followed by a creative workshop.
High School and College
The cultural awareness program offers an interactive tour of the estate and the museum, which can be accompanied by either an illustrated introductory presentation or an activity sheet.
Specialized
As a space for dialogue, the Royal Museum of Mariemont aims to be open to everyone and to all forms of diversity. As a cultural institution, the museum organizes interactive tours for students in special education.

“Customized” Activities
Guided Tours
Whether it takes place before or after the topics covered in class, a museum visit complements classroom learning. What sets the museum apart is the type of resources it provides access to: tangible objects. These objects require the application of various skills, particularly cross-curricular skills.
The emphasis is on an inquiry-based approach: asking questions, gathering information, and analyzing, as well as thinking critically, comparing, and expressing ideas. The visit will focus on the object—deliberately preserved, part of a collection, a testament to a civilization, and a bearer of aesthetic value. One of the distinctive features of the Royal Museum of Mariemont is the diversity of its collections.
Guided tours can be tailored to the teacher’s curriculum as well as to the students’ academic track (general, technical, or vocational).

The Museum Comes to School
An educator from the cultural outreach department will visit your classroom (elementary or secondary) with her own teaching materials to help all your students discover the richness of Mariemont’s collections.
Traveling Educational Kits and EXP'autonomes
Traveling educational kits are chests, boxes, or suitcases containing authentic objects on loan from museums, casts, models, games, and various materials illustrating a theme designed to spark an interest in history.
The “EXP'autonomes” are the former exhibitions of the Muséobus.
Borrow these resources for free: you can choose from many different themes.
Muséobus
A particularly original educational tool developed by the Official Museum of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the Muséobus consists of an extendable semi-trailer that is set up for a day in a schoolyard, a village square, or the parking lot of a cultural center.

Practical Information
Museum admission with guided tour
- School groups: (max.25 p.) €80 per tour per group
- Special education groups: (max.12 p.) €50 per tour per group
Scent Workshop
- School groups: €130 for a group of 25 people
Tea Ceremonies
- School groups: €400 for a group of 12 people or €25 per person for a group of 13 to 25 people
Changes and Cancellations
If our schedule permits, we can accept changes to your reservation no later than 10 days before your tour.
Less than one week before the tour, no changes can be accepted.
Any tour that has not been canceled at least 4 business days before the scheduled date will automatically be billed to the group. The invoice amount will be €80 per guide.
