Richard Veymiers : Director general and scientific director

Richard Veymiers is the Director General and Scientific Director of the Domaine & Royal Museum of Mariemont, where he leads a project focused on promoting cultural heritage by combining a commitment to excellence and scientific collaboration with inclusivity and accessibility to culture.

After earning a PhD in History, Art and Archaeology (University of Liège, 2008), he pursued an international career across diverse academic and museum contexts:

Beyond his directorship at Mariemont, he is a professor at the University of Liège, where since 2021 he has held a chair dedicated to museums and the promotion of cultural heritage.

Richard Veymiers is a specialist in archaeology and art history of Greek and Roman Antiquity. His research explores cultural interactions in the ancient Mediterranean and their expression through material cultures. The reception of Egypt and its gods by Greeks and Romans is among his primary research interests. His perspective on museum heritage is both anthropological and biographical.
