Enfants devant une vitrine d'arts extra-européens

The Non-European Arts section centres around the 18th century Chinese porcelains and “curiosities” (jades, textiles, bronzes) purchased by Raoul Warocqué. The East Asian collections bring together relics from China and Japan but also Korea and Vietnam.

Through everyday objects, including predominantly ancient and contemporary ceramics, they represent a broad range of East Asian arts.

Several utensils used in the Tea Ceremony are also on display in an area adjacent to the Tea Pavilion gifted to the museum by the Urasenke Tea School (Kyoto) in 2001. Regular traditional tea ceremonies are held to showcase a facet of Japanese architecture and provide a better understanding of the role of ceramics in Japanese life and traditions.

This section is located in rooms C and D on the first floor of the museum.
