Greek & Roman Antiquities
Visit the Royal Museum of MariemontThe Greek and Roman Antiquities section brings together works of art and testimonials from ancient Greek and Roman civilisations, illustrating the day-to-day and artistic activities of the whole Mediterranean Basin. It spans 3 millennia, from the Bronze Age (2200 to 800 BCE) to the Low Roman Empire (284 CE – 476 CE.).
Here you will find marble and bronze sculptures, ceramics, gold- and silverware and also paintings and frescoes from the different civilisations which grew up simultaneously throughout the Mediterranean world.
The Roman pieces found in Hainault and Bavay (Northern France) can be found in the Regional & Estate Archaeology section.
This section is located in rooms A, B and C on the first floor.
