The Royal Museum of Mariemont has one of the most rich and varied collections of Egyptian antiquities in Belgium, covering the history of Egypt from the 4th millennium BCE to the end of the Byzantine era (circa 642 CE).

Our collection offers a broad overview of Ancient Egyptian and Near-Eastern societies, through their religious and funereal beliefs. It explores the themes of knowledge, predynastic industries and technologies, and also the development of ceramics techniques, for example.

Also on display in this section are works and other objects from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey and North Africa. These regions are showcased through ancient and Islamic ceramics, the linchpin of the Far East and Europe.

This section is located in rooms B and C on the first floor.
